Aural Rehabilitation - Online Course
About Course:
This course aims to equip SLPs, students, and healthcare professionals with a clear understanding of Aural Rehabilitation for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Participants will learn to identify, assess, and analyze speech patterns in relation to their hearing abilities, plan their language progress, and support their language development based on Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) stages
1- Understand the impact of hearing loss on language development:
- Define the different types and degrees of hearing loss.
- Explain theimpact of hearing loss on sound recognition and speech understanding
2- Analyze Research and Developmental Patterns:
- Summarize key research onauditory skills development, speech and language of children who are deaf and hard ofhearing
- Recognize the role of early interventionin language development.
3-Identify and Assess Auditory skills based on Erber model:
- Define the four skill levels in auditory skills.
- Identify the different levels of difficulty in each skill level based on stimulus characteristics.
4- Apply Clinical Knowledge to Support Language Development:
- Relate speech recognition patters to speech production sample.
- Use strategies to enhance listening and auditory skills in everyday situations.
- Use techniques to develop language skills both receptive and productiveand the use of language in everyday situations

Dr. Nadia Abdulhaq

Dr. Nadia Abdulhaq is a highly accomplished Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiology specialist with over 20 years of clinical, academic, and international experience in hearing rehabilitation and cochlear implants. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida, in addition to a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology. She currently serves as Senior Clinical Technical and Rehabilitation Consultant at Cochlear (Middle East & Africa), where she provides technical leadership, professional training, and rehabilitation support across the region. Dr. Abdulhaq has extensive expertise in auditory verbal therapy, pediatric and adult cochlear implant rehabilitation, clinical supervision, and professional training, and she is widely recognized for her contributions to conferences, workshops, and capacity building initiatives throughout the Middle East and beyond.
